Laura Adler, LSW

I believe in creating a space for you to be your full authentic self as you work through the flows and changes of life. You are the expert in your own journey, and I am here to work alongside you. I value autonomy and empowerment; I see you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. My approach to therapy is inspired by trauma-informed framework, mindfulness, and a person-centered approach. I bring warm and empathic energy to every session and accept you as you are.

I am a Master of Social Work graduate from Jane Addams College of Social Work and I have a background in community-based services and case management. I have worked with people of a wide range of ages including those who may have experienced trauma or housing insecurity. I have worked in settings with housing-first and trauma-informed frameworks, centering the needs of each person and providing comprehensive support. I have also worked with the LGBTQIA++ community and provided affirming care. Throughout my work, I try to employ an anti-oppression framework to understand how systems can impact each individual and the impact of community-level trauma.

In general, I feel like I’m known for being patient and honest and in my friend circle, I’m someone they can always come to when looking for support. In my free time, I love spending time with my two cats, playing The Legend of Zelda, and working on my vinyl collection – one of my favorites is my David Bowie Diamond Dog record. It is a life goal of mine to integrate self-care as a part of my everyday routine; taking care of myself so I can show up for others. I also want to continue to learn and grow in new ways to always provide a safe and accepting space for clients.
